Revealing: Freemason master Bob Boyd says the masonic village will be holding an open night to allow the public a glimpse into the secretive organisation.THE freemasons in Wagin will open its masonic village to the public so they can see what really goes on inside this secretive organisation.
The open night is set for August 14 and will involve a tour of the offices, a finger food supper and drinks.Freemason master Bob Boyd said the evening would be colourful.
“I expect people will have fun. It will be an interesting night.”
Mr Boyd said too be a Freemason you have to be male and have a religious belief.
“This doesn’t mean that there are not female versions of the Freemasons so to speak, but it’s a male organisation here in Wagin.”
Mr Boyd is trying to lift the veil on the Freemasons and remove some of the mystery that surrounds the organisation.
The organisation has been described by the Wagin lodge master as an organisation with secrets not a secret organisation, maintaining the the argument that there is very little secretive about the Freemasons.
“Some of our processes are secretive but what we actually do is no secret at all, we’re really just a charitable organisation.”
The lodge will be open at 7.30pm for people to enter.
